Paidia International Development is a not for-profit organization working with disadvantaged youth. Founded by Erich Strehl, the CEO of Paidia, during his time living in Israel and the Palestinian territories. The vision for Paidia blossomed because of the need he saw for positive recreational opportunities that would inspire social cohesion, train leaders for the next generation, and teach conflict resolution skills through the medium of educational recreation. Erich developed and ran several leadership programs with members of the local community. Because of the positive response and the effectiveness of the concept at reaching youth Erich continued to purse the project, developing a new educational system where programs are formulated to fit the physical and educational needs of children in Palestine.
Paidia International Development has reached hundreds of children, youth and adults in the West Bank. Paidia began activities in 2006 in the historic town of Bethlehem with our sponsored child program and now offers 5 different year long programs. We work with children aged 6 to 18, teaching them about the environment, tolerance, conflict resolution, and leadership. Our mission is to influence the children and youth of the community in order to equip them to positively transform their society. Our children and youth programs are recreation-based educational events designed to mobilize young people empowering with the skills and the vision to work collectively towards a brighter future.
